The Minister of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (Sean Fraser) has launched a new online case tracker for spouse sponsorship applications. Also, this tracker will allow some family class permanent resident applicants and their sponsors to check their application status online. Furthermore, the link to the tracker is near the bottom of this post.

Initially, this tracker can be used for permanent residence spouse sponsorship applications and dependent children. Immigration Canada (IRCC) is working on providing simlilar online tools for other types of applications. Also, trying to reduce processing times.

This tracker will allow you to keep track of your sponsorship applications and see if there are any actions you need to take, Moreover, it gives you all the same information if you contacted Immigration Canada by phone.

Some Quick Facts:

1. your foreign spouse can be inside or outside Canada to be sponsored
2. your foreign spouse may be eligible for an open work permit only if the application is submitted from inside Canada
3. sponsoring your foreign spouse from outside Canada allows a right to appeal in case there is a refusal in your application.  Sponsoring your spouse from inside Canada does not offer an appeal, only an option of federal court
4. the Schedule A application form must contain a printed name and a signature on the signature section

6. if you are immigrating from a country that allows more than one wife, normally you can sponsor your first wife only

8. visitor visa’s for spouse’s can be processed after the permanent residency sponsorship application has been submitted
